Dating sites in the UK are becoming more and more popular. In fact, numbers of visitors to dating sites rose an average of 20 per cent in 2008 (on top of a 9 per cent rise in 2007).

This rise mirrors the onset of the recession, indicating that perhaps recession itself makes online dating more popular.
